Blush & Gold Wedding

I love creating beautiful cakes for weddings, but it’s even more special when I get to attend the wedding as a guest as well.

On Friday I went to the wedding of Davina and Luke, and was privileged to design and make their cake. Their wedding was at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park, a stunning setting with beautiful views.

I’d worked closely with the bride to make sure she had her dream cake. I was briefed on blush with touches of gold, with peonies and roses. She was also keen to get details of the lace of her dress included (and with an Alice Temperley dress, why wouldn’t you?). We decided on a blush pink bottom tier with gold flecks, a shorter gold tier, and two white tiers, one with piped lace detail. The entire cake was topped with a posy of the palest pink roses and an open peony.

The cake itself was a fruit cake for the couple to keep, lemon cake, and chocolate salted caramel, which were served as dessert with fruit.

I even made their favours – lemon flower cookies decorated with fondant and royal icing.

The cake looked right at home in the stately room of Pembroke Lodge, and the whole day was truly beautiful.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
