How to order a wedding cake with Caked
/For most couples, planning a wedding is full of first time experiences. Unless you’re an event planner, it can be a little daunting. It’s important to try to enjoy the planning experience and not get too stressed about the small stuff.
I may be a little biased, but I personally think that planning your wedding cake is one of the most fun parts of planning your wedding. You get to eat cake!
I aim to make the whole experience easy and fun, but it can still be hard to know where to start. So here are my top tips on how to tick the wedding cake off your planning list.
Create a mood board
Chances are, you already have a mood board or Pinterest bringing together all your ideas. This is a great way to understand the style you’re naturally drawn to and can help you find examples of styles, decor and finishing touches you may not have thought of.
When curating your cake ideas, the followig areas can be a good starting point:
your venue - would a certain style of cake suit your venue best? e.g. a vintage Lambeth cake for a country house wedding or a rustic semi-naked cake for a barn wedding
colours - are there any specific colours you’re using in your decor?
motifs - are there any motifs you’re keen to use from your invitations or dress design?
traditions - are there any family traditions you’d like incorporated into your cake (e.g. design details from your parent’s wedding cake) or are you intending to use a traditional cake topper?
trends - while it’s best not to focus too much on current trends (especially fleeting ones!) have a look at what is popular right now and see if anything pops out
Get in touch
Once you have some ideas and you have confirmed your wedding date, get in touch to talk about your design.
It’s best to contact any suppliers as early as possible. Most wedding suppliers are small businesses and we’re likely to get booked up quickly for popular dates. Plus, the earlier you confirm your suppliers, the less stressful it will be in the lead up to your big day.
Get in touch via email, DM or phone to start chatting about your cake. I’ll be able to provide initial quotes and answer any questions you may have.
Arrange a consultation
The next step is to arrange your cake consultation. You’ll be able to select from a range of dates and times. Consultations usually last about 20-30 minutes and I’ll take you through all the details of your cake, from design to presentation and delivery.
You’ll also receive your cake tasters in the post to enjoy at home. You’ll receive 5 cake flavours to try and additional boxes can be ordered.
Following your consultation, I’ll work on your designs and send them over with your quotes.
Secure your date
Once you’re happy with a design, you can secure your wedding date with a 20% deposit. Or, if you can’t decide just yet, you can book your date with a £ 75 deposit.
And that’s it! Now you can sit back, relax and look forward to your wedding day (while working through the rest of your wedding to do list!)
